I thought that this was very interesting. The mother of the marine who was found murdered, along with his wife has written an open letter to Barack Obama asking for his help with the case.
Now, don't get me wrong, I understand the anguish that this woman must be going through, but I'm thinking more in terms of the expectations that people must have of Barack Obama.
Remember when I said that people will expect Barack Obama to change the world, literally. I admire Barack Obama just as much as I feel sorry for him in that so many people look at him as if he is the second coming, and it's so unfair because he will fall out of favor with people really quickly when they realize that he's just a man.
Just thought that I'd give you my thoughts on this before I finished the story - read below:
"Dear President-elect Barack Obama, they killed my son."
So begins a wrenching letter by the mother of murdered Brooklyn Marine Sgt. Jan Pawel Pietrzak, published Wednesday in a Polish newspaper.
In it, Henryka Pietrzak-Varga asked Obama for help in getting to the bottom of the murders of her son and daughter-in-law, Quiana. Police say four other Marines killed them both - but not before raping Quiana.
"Death at war at the hands of an enemy is, for a soldier, a patriotic honor," the heartbroken mom wrote in Polish.
"That fact alone enables his family to come to grips with the loss. The death of a soldier in his country and at the hands of his own soldiers ... is a source of endless suffering for his family."
The Pietrzaks were tortured - and Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak was raped - before they were bound, gagged and killed execution style last month in their California home.
"Their lives were taken in a bestial way," Pietrzak-Varga wrote in the letter in the Dziennik Wschodni newspaper. "My son's wife was raped in a bestial way, most likely as my son looked on helplessly."
Prosecutors say robbery was the motive, but neither family believes it - though they have stopped short of calling it a hate crime.
Pietrzak, 24, who was born in Poland and raised in Bensonhurst, was white. His 26-year-old wife, who grew up near San Diego, was black. So are the four accused Marines.

I didn't vote for Obama/Biden because they were the latest version of Batman and Robin. Unfortunately, there were several people that did. This letter is evidence of that. He is only a man, just like the other 43 presidents. I wish with all my heart that this didn't happen to this family, but it did and at the moment these monsters are in police custody. They'll pay for what they did.
I know it must be one hell of a burden for people to put the weight of the world on your shoulders.

This is really sad, but she has got to be a little crazy to think the President can do anything about this. Many families are going through the same thing she is, but the President will not help her.
Poor, President Elect Obama, this is one of many letters he will be receiving.
I agree with Mina and Gail totally, but I'm perplexed if you were going to write the president, didn't you miss one? Barack Obama is not the president - George Bush is!
I hope she sent one to her local senator, AG and chief of police...I'm with the fam, he's got too much on his plate cleaning up after Bush's stupid @$$ mistakes and he only has so much time.
i agree with gail, the letter will not do much for this poor woman, i wouldn't call her crazy , that is just uncalled for. She must be dying inside, so much youth, love, happiness and joy taken away from her as well as Quianna's mom.
I'm 32 year old man, but i cry each time i read the about this story. It also makes me reflect on how lucky we are just to leave each day in health on this earth.

First of all, let me state, that I am white and Polish, posting from Warsaw.
I never knew neither Jan Pietrzak, nor his wife, but, being utterly outraged by the heinous crime committed, I cannot help to comment on two issues.
Issue A: why four low rank Marines assaulted another one, together with his wife, in a way that makes Gestapo crooks green with envy? For money? Pietrzaks weren't rich, he's reenlisted recently and used the money to do home improvement. The perpetrators left with some insignificant trinkets, not money, and the only jewelry piece stolen I know of was the engagement ring, no doubt forcibly removed from Quiana Pietrzak's finger.
So, ruling the "official" motive out, what remains? I'm not even going to lower myself to the standards of certain people outside this blog, who have claimed that Pietrzak was abusing Soldiers under his command, or that it was a "drug deal gone bad". From what I've learned, he was a man of character. Thus, we come to a conclusion, and one most people seem to agree upon.
It was a crime of hate, and an inhuman expression of double standards in a racially mixed society.
Because Jan Pietrzak had the gall to woo and marry a black woman, and said woman, Quiana Pietrzak, had the gall to accept him and choose him as her husband, he deserved to be killed as a "woman thief" and she deserved to be violated and killed as a "race traitor". That's how the minds of the murderers worked. He's white, poaching on "our territory". Kill the cracker and that Aunt Jemima too, they thought. And while we're at it, let's have some fun with the bitch, show her whitey husband what's gangbanging all about. It doesn't matter that we like to have fun with blondes and Asian girls, that we brag about the amount of white babes, who, using thugspeak, like "dark meat". Ya take a sistah, ya cracker, and ya dead!
Do you find it sickening? I do. Racism in action, people. And to think some people say only whites are capable of racist thought. Well, here's an example of black intolerance. And no, no amount of justifying stuff like that with "slavery", "oppression", "White Privilege" and other BS will work. Jan Pietrzak was Polish, came to America as a kid, leaving his still turbulent homeland in search of a better future. Was he a descendant of some Southern plantation owner or a slave merchant (most of the latter being either black, or Arab by the way)? Was he treating his subordinates like dirt - gee, he just might, two of them were serving under him, and he had to make sure they work instead of doing nothing like the thugs they were. Was he a beneficent of the fabled "White Privilege"? Him, a man who enlisted after 9/11 because he wanted to repay America for making his life better? Give me a break. The sad truth is that some - not all! - black people can and are just as racist as some - and also not all, contrary to what certain "leaders" of black community might like people to think - white people. The faster African American community approaches this topic with honesty, without hiding behind "slavery" and "white intolerance", the better. After all, since when two wrongs make a right?
And here we arrive at issue B: where's the media? Were is the public outcry, the debates on intolerant behavior of some members of black community? That's right, there are none. Why? Because in media doublespeak, racism happens when a white man oppresses a black one, not the other way around. There's no Jesse Jackson for white people, and no Al Sharpton for that matter. There's no White Pride, because should anyone dare to attempt to remove the concept from the hands of loony racialists such as David Duke, he'd be grouped together with them and given a KKK outfit, complete with the hood, wooden cross and a canister of gas. That is why Jan and Quiana Pietrzak will remain unpopular victims - because there's no story in showing that black people can be just as hateful as white, and that black bigots hate interracial marriages just as white ones do.
And as for the mother's grief, gee. Maybe she wants a man his African American fellows hail as Second Messiah actually do something about black racism? After all, if there's anyone who can do that, he is. Bill Cosby tried to change the way some people behave (not exactly when it comes to racism, but other, just as important issues) and got a nice shiny Uncle Tom lapel pin for his trouble.
