Civil rights are like pregnancies. They never exist partially. One is pregnant or not. One is married or not. Period. Marriage secures assets, insurance benefits, wills, income, tax breaks, pensions, property, custody, financial power, peace, and an overall quality of life.
Hating gays is cool in America. President Barack Obama is a symbol of cool who also hates homosexuals. Banning interracial marriages and owning black slaves were once cool and legal in America too. And, homohating marriage bans will become similar legal relics…someday.
