A grand jury indicted the Baltimore County officer involved in the death of 17-year-old Christopher Brown.
Brown died after an altercation with Officer James Laboard back on June 13 in Randallstown. The indictment charges Laboard with one count of manslaughter and one count of involuntary manslaughter. Both charges carry a maximum of 10 years in jail.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Laboard who will then be arraigned in the next 30 - 60 days.
The time between the incident and today's indictment created tension between Brown's family, his neighborhood and the police department. Brown's mother had called for Laboard's arrest as early as Monday.
The police department, State's Attorney's office and the county executive maintained a fair investigation would take place. Something they reiterated again when the indictment was announced on Wednesday.
"Once again, I want to assure everyone that this case was treated as any other case of this type would have been," said State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger. "The fact that Mr. Laboard was an off- duty police officer had no bearing on the time that it took to evaluate the evidence and move this case forward to the Grand Jury."

I hope that the family finds peace no matter the court outcome
