Man Throws Girlfriend & 3-Month Old Baby Out of 3rd Floor Window!

Charges against a Jersey City man accused of pushing his ex-girlfriend and their 3-month-old son out a third-floor window Friday morning will be upgraded to criminal attempted homicide Monday, Jersey City police said Sunday.

Frederico Bruno, 19, was charged Friday with aggravated assault after he allegedly entered a Rutgers Avenue apartment early Friday and stabbed his ex-girlfriend and a female friend of hers, police said.

He then shoved the former girlfriend and their 3-month-old son into an air-conditioning unit with such force that the unit broke free and the woman and child plummeted three stories, according to officials.

The woman landed on top the baby, authorities said. The charges pertain only to the women.
Bruno was arrested Friday night in Belleville after he was found hiding in a refrigerator in a vacant apartment. Family members of Bruno who lived in an adjacent apartment told police of his whereabouts, officials said.
The baby is listed in extremely critical condition and the suspect's 20-year-old ex-girlfriend, who is an induced coma, is in stable but critical condition, Jersey City Police Lt. Edgar Martinez said this morning.

The other woman, who was stabbed repeatedly, was listed in stable condition, Martinez said.
The initial aggravated assault charges against Bruno are being upgraded as a result of the ongoing investigation by the South District Detectives Unit and Major Case Unit, said Martinez, adding Bruno also faces burglary and multiple weapons charges.

A conviction on aggravated assault carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years while a conviction on criminal attempted homicide carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, authorities said. In both cases, 85 percent of the sentence must be served before parole is an option.

Jersey City police officers, joined by Belleville and Newark police officers, secured the house in Belleville around 8 p.m. Friday after family members of Bruno told police he was hiding in an adjacent apartment, Martinez said.

"We were all inside and they said that they caught him in the next apartment in the fridge," Ashley Archelus, Bruno's niece, told CBS-TV. "We didn't know he was coming. He just came out of nowhere, because he just comes once in a blue."

Police believe Bruno let himself into Rutgers Avenue apartment Friday and was hiding when the women and child returned around 6:30 a.m..

The former girlfriend was in a rear room with her son when she heard her friend scream during Bruno's attack, and when the former girlfriend attempted to call police, he stabbed her multiple times, police said. While the mother was holding the child, Bruno pushed them into an air conditioner, which broke lose from the window, police said.

After the mother and child landed on the ground, police said Bruno climbed down the fire escape, found a table in the backyard and beat his former girlfriend with it before running away.
