As you are all probably very aware of by now, Sherman Hemsley has passed away. The actor, best known for his roles as George Jefferson on The Jeffersons and Deacon Frye on Amen!... was found by his nurse, who initially went into the room and left, assuming he had been asleep, only to return later to realize that he was in the same position and that something didn't "look right"...
Hemsley was not married and rumored to have been in a same sex relationship with a partner for years.
Here's to hoping his family is OK during this very sad time in all of our lives.
Ironically, everyone from the original cast photo of The Jeffersons is dead except Berlinda Tolbert, who played Jenny, and Marla Gibbs, who played Florence.

Would never have pegged George as gay
ReplyDeleteI loved that show when it was on!! Wish we could get some reruns!!

ReplyDeleteI was told he was homosexual many years ago. He played the heck outta those roles and will be missed. I was sad when I heard this yesterday....R.I.P. :-(
