Hip Hop Executive Chris Lighty Reportedly Takes His Own Life After Spat with Ex-Wife!

I don't really know what the cause of this was, but sources are reporting that Chris died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They say that, although he and his wife have been divorced for a while, he never got over it and that, coupled with the fact that he was reportedly facing some serious debt (a $5 million dollar tax issue), Lighty simply couldn't hang anymore.

 

Depression is a serious issue and anyone whose ever been close to an individual who suffers from it will tell you that it doesn't just affect the person going through it, depression becomes everybody's issue and it's extremely hard to deal with a person dealing with it because it's easy to become depressed yourself while trying to help them through. I've been through it. Trust me.

 

The Hip-Hop industry lost another vet yesterday and I hope that this opens people's eyes that the glitz and glamour doesn't change your world - it simply changes your financial situation. You're still a person with regular folk issues at the end of the day - just with a better credit score.

 

Chris Lighty died Thursday morning after he allegedly shot himself with a 9-mm after an argument with his estranged wife, Veronica  at his Bronx apartment, sources told the Daily News.

 

Lighty, 44 — a longtime manager of 50 Cent, Diddy, Ja Rule and Mariah Carey — stepped outside his South Riverdale apartment about 11:30 a.m., suddenly, a gun shot was heard and Lighty was found lying faceup with a 9-mm. pistol next to his body, sources said.

 

Musicians began Tweeting about Lighty soon after news of his death spread.

“R.I.P CHRIS LIGHTY THE MAN THAT SAVED MY LIFE!!!” Bronx rapper Fat Joe posted on Twitter. “I Would Be Nothing Without YOU!!! My Kids Appreciate YOU God Bless Chris Lighty.”
