NFL Baller Jamal Lewis Arrested for Child Support, Well... Not PAYING Child Support!

Anyway, former NFL running back Jamal Lewis (pictured) was arrested in Clayton County, Georgia on Tuesday night for allegedly being delinquent on child support payments, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Lewis, whose best years were with the Baltimore Ravens, was charged with child abandonment and a misdemeanor. He was booked into jail before 11 p.m. Tuesday and released after midnight Wednesday.

Reportedly, more than a year has passed since Lewis has had any contact with his son.
The player’s recent arrest is not his first brush with the law. Back in 2005, he was arrested and pleaded guilty to using a cell phone to make a cocaine transaction. The plea landed him a four-month jail sentence. Though his off-the-field issues did not seem to negatively impact his performance on the gridiron.

During his first season with the Ravens, Lewis became the second rookie ever to rush for over 100 yards in a Super Bowl back in 2001. He has a total of 7,801 rushing yards with the team, including a single-season team record of 2,066 yards in 2004 when he was named the Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

The 32-year-old fell on hard times after he retired from the game in 2009. Lewis filed for bankruptcy last April, listing $14.5 million in assets and $10,6 million in debts.

Lewis is also among the former NFL players who are suing the league in a landmark class action lawsuit, alleging that NFL promoted the game’s violence and “deliberately and fraudulently” mislead players about the link between concussions and long-term brain injuries.
