Oprah Interviews Usher on "Oprah's Next Chapter"...

What's interesting about Oprah Winfrey is that the power of Oprah is simply in being Oprah. When the talk show maven left her #1 rated show to kick start her own network, she did so to a luke warm reception and most people were surprised that Big Op's OWN Network didn't do as well as she would have liked considering the fact that she is Oprah.

I, myself wondered if the magic of Oprah had simply been luck for all of those years since that legion of fans she had didn't hitch a ride over to the OWN Network with her. It's interesting that the network is on the upswing and all the shows that are helping to do that are the shows that feature Oprah. (Well, besides Sweetie Pies, the number one show)

If you're not checking out OWN, you better get on it because I find myself watching a lot more than I expected I would. The Lifeclass series is some good stuff, and my favorite OWN show, Welcome to Sweetie Pie's comes back this week and I will be watching to see what Miss Robbie and Charles nem are up to.

Another big show on the network is the "Next Chapter" series. I'm loving that Oprah is bringing it with the black guest on this show. This week, Usher Claude Raymond invites Oprah into his home and the usually private singer will answer some tough questions about his mama not coming to the wedding, whether he cheated on Tameka, the custody battle, and some other hot topics.

  1. The problem with Oprah's network OWN, isn't her. It's the cable distributors and companies fault. Rather than making the channel a part of a basic cable channel package, they make it a part of a special package helping to exclude a segment of her population of viewers and effectively making her the "fall guy". And I know you weren't placing blame on her Ayntee Pearl, but as I was reading your post the thoughts in my comment above just struck me. Because her channel does have quality programming. A lot more insightful than the crap seen on TV today.

  2. Oh, I love the OWN channel myself. I even watched when every other commercial talked about what was coming on OWN. I am so happy she let some of the shows go. Sometimes you have to make the hard decisions. I cannot wait to see Iyanla Fix my life! That one there is going to be a blessing. Yes, every show that is good on OWN has Oprah in it, but it won't always be this way. Every business owner knows you have to keep your nose to the grind the first couple of years before you see any daylight. It will come a day where Oprah will be able to step back and say..."I DID THAT!"
