Although it's slated to hit the Billboard album charts at #2, Brandy's latest effort didn't fair nearly as well as her previous efforts. I guess 70K is a respectable number considering the fact that so many people buy their music for free from download websites.
I think the fact that record execs purposely chose to release during a week that there would be no R&B competition was very smart, but saddening at the same time considering she didn't break 100,000.
Personally, I haven't dug Brandy since she quit Rodney Jerkins, but I also think it's karma and until she acknowledges her brother from another mother (Rapper, C-Dove), instead of saying, "I only have one brother!" I think the karma gods will kick her a$$ consistently.
Now, with a day’s sales under its belt, the first projections for the set have been released. And it looks like Ms. Norwood is on course for a high placing on the tally.

Country star James Aldean is presently in the lead with his LP ‘Broken Bow’. The LP is set to open with blockbuster sales of 385-410k.

ReplyDeleteI'm soooo proud of Brandy and happy to see that she's beating the odds. She got me through some "tough" times as a teen. Heard this album is sooo hot by sooo many ppl and i cant wait to hear it

I'm expecting first week sales to double that estimate, especially considering they were based on at most two days worth of sales. Especially considering everyone is raving about how good the album is. She definitely put it down, pun intended. I'm loving it all the way through and am probably gonna buy another copy just to keep it in my car. Go Brandy!
