Tia Mowry: "It's going to be hard to say goodbye to Melanie!"

It was hard for Tia Mowry to say good-bye when she initially found out about changes coming to “The Game.”

The fall premiere of “Tia & Tamera” focused on Tia’s decision not to return to the BET series and her character Melanie, which would have been demoted to a recurring, secondary role.

“I feel like I’m in a dilemma because say I come back to the show as recurring. Then, it could hinder my opportunities of me being able to book another show as a regular,” Tia said to hubby, Cory Hardrict.

In addition to the pay cut that would likely come with the move, Tia was also worried about disappointing her fans.

“If I don’t do it, I don’t want to put down my fans. I don’t want to let myself down, but at the same time, I have to think about my family. I have to think about myself, and I have to think about my goals and aspirations,” she said.

In the end, Tia opted to have faith that she would find a leading role in another series. However, she admitted that Melanie had a special place in her heart.

“I’ve fallen in love with this character, and it’s going to be hard for me to say good-bye to Melanie. She was the best character I’ve ever played in my entire life. Melanie was just a very well-written character. She was a relatable character. I think that’s why I loved her so much 'cause I learned from her. I feel so grateful and honored to have portrayed such an amazing woman and she will always be a part of my life,” Tia said.
