14-Year-Old Boy Struck In The Neck During Shooting At Atlanta Middle School

A shooting erupted at an Atlanta middle school Thursday (Jan. 31) afternoon. Police say shots were fired at Price Middle School resulting in a 14-year-old being wounded, among multiple others who were hurt.

The teen was shot in the back of neck and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, his injuries are not life-threatening. The child's aunt has identified him as Telvis Douglas.

In addition to Douglas, a teacher received treatment for minor cuts and bruises, sustained from being trampled after the shots were fired.

Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis confirmed that the shooter was a student, and knew the victim. The violence is said to have been the result of an incident that happened between the two. The suspect was able to bring the gun to school because there were no metal detectors.

After the shooting, which occurred outside the premises, the school was placed on “hard lockdown,” allowing for no one to leave the campus. Parents were notified via Twitter and robo calls.

Grief counselors were called to the school today, and will return tomorrow.
Police are still investigating the matter.

  2. Kids aren't being taught how to diffuse arguments through conversation. And they should charge the shooter to full extent of the law.
