The pastor who decided that, if God only gets 10%, there is no way you're getting 18%, in fact, you ain't gettin' nothin' - is now apologizing for getting the waitress fired from her gig at Applebee's in this very tough economy!
Who knew the pastor was a black woman? In my head, this was a racist ole white dude.
Anyway, the pastor in St Louis set the Internet on fire this week after what she scribbled on a restaurant receipt went viral. Last Friday, pastor Alois Bell, 37, went to a local Applebee's with some friends, when the check came an automatic gratuity was added. So, she wrote on her credit card receipt: “I give God 10% percent, why do you get 18."
Another waitress (Chelsea Welch) saw the check and posted it online for it "comically immature" nature. On Wednesday, Alois called the restaurant to complain, claiming Chelsea's actions "ruined" her reputation. Chelsea was fired. Now, in an interview with KPLR, Alois calls the situation a "lapse in judgment." She adds: "It was dumb of me and I can say that because I take responsibilities for all my actions.” As for Chelsea, there's an online petition urging Applebee's to rehire her and strangers are sending her financial donations.

Shes only sorry cause the secret is out. Something she thought would have stayed within bitter applebees employees is national news. Also this reciept was posted on an Athiest board where they tore into that Christian ass. Holy or not tou know waitresses make under $5.00 an hour so if u dont want to at least give up $5.00 for service then stay ur cheap ass home!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd got the nerve to be fat. She shoulda took her fat ass where all fat church people go....the buffet! SB: She didn't get anyone fired. It was the waitress' decision to post that crap online. I'm so over this.
ReplyDeleteI really thought it was a greasy black pastor who wears those tacky Steve Harvey suits. Anyway she's over it!
I didn't think it was a greasy Black pastor, but I did think he was Black.
DeleteJust hope she took her 18% to get a make over.
ReplyDeleteY'all are terrible. What do her looks have to do with it? And policy is just that, waitress still had NO BUSINESS posting the receipt! I wouldn't apologize for that. The pastor did not get her fired.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you LYB, my first instinct was that this was a Black person.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad, but blacks and low or no tips have become synonymous with one another.]
Hence the "black tax", when you go to places like South Beach or New Orleans during Essence Fest etc. I know in Houston I was appalled when we went to Kona Grill and they had an 18% gratuity included in your bill for services after 9pm. They also required you to show ID. Why? Because this is a place blacks have begun to hangout.
I would like to say I'm a pretty good tipper...and I absolutely loathe it when i'm with someone who complains about every single thing then leaves a lousy tip...just cause!
Anyway, I'm glad the "pastor" was 'outted'... And yes, the waitresses actions were the reason she was fired but that still doesn't make it right. This is just a cheap ass "Pastor".
It was said that another waitress put it out there. They didn't say it was the one who waited on the pastor. If that is the case then when the pastor complained , the original waitress got fired. So if that's the case then yeah, she got the woman fired and the woman was not the actual waitress that outted her cheap ass !
ReplyDeleteI went back thru the story and I see that chelsea was the one who posted it on line. If the pastor had the audacity to write the comment then chelsea can have the audacity to post it. The cheap ass pastor just madd cuz she got outted and she is embarrassed. She should have been embarrassed as a godly woman to be writing sarcastic non-sense on the check. They should re-hire the woman. there has been no mention of the server being rude or unkind while providing service to the pastor. God don't like Ugly !
ReplyDeleteA waitress pay is very poor. Secondly is it just me or does the pastor look likes she's retarded. lol
ReplyDeleteEveryone is calling this pastor cheap. Well, why is it that we citizen the patrons and not the employers? I mean, really, why should we be expected to pay someone to do what their employers hired them to do? I used the word "pay" because people who receive tips are supposed to report their tips as earnings. Doesn't this then makes us all employers? A tip should NOT be expected, required or reported as income.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I do tip and I teach my son to do so (especially the way he likes to beckon the waiters!). I just think that tipping is unfair to the patrons. I mean, if we are expected to tip everyone from servers to nail techs to beauticians, then we wouldn't really be able to afford the services. Here's a thought; why can't we make the employers responsible for their employees and demand that they pay them a decent salary? They don't even get paid minimum wage. How is that fair to the employees? And, the tipping percentage keeps going up (with the cost of living) like WE'RE the employers. NOT FAIR!!!
And, if I'm expected to tip based on service, why is my tip actually based on the amount of money I spend? Scenario: A friend and I go out to eat. I order filet mignon; my friend orders a hotdog. However, my friend solicits the waiter four or five times while I NEVER ask for anything in addition to what I already have. Why am I the one expected to pay a higher tip just because my FOOD was more expensive when it was my friend who actually used the waiter more? How does that make sense?
Now, what the pastor did was very rude. If she wasn't going to tip, then simply don't tip. But, to write that little note to the waiter was just classless and insensitive.
I read all the conversation and i think it's a good thing that she admit the mistake and say sorry for that. I hope in future this kinds of things will be be repeated. read more
